'Tick Tock Chamber,' 2010 (installation at Lokatie Amsterdam)

in context of SECOND HAND STORIES expo (Entrance view)
Constructed with mostly mdf furniture and grandfather clocks donated by the second hand shop in which I was a temporary resident. For this piece I focused mainly on the problem of time and motivation as two factors which hinder individual progress. I constructed a space in which time is apparent but loses its structure. Each of the clocks were running at different speeds, all much more rapidly than intended by simply adding extra weight to the chains. (Sound recordings coming soon) The exhibition opened on National Recycle Day and included various events. There was an appraiser on hand to judge the value of visitors objects, an auction of valuable antiques and a performance with a glass organ which I arranged for guest musicians to perform.
